What was your favorite song when you were a child?

When I was a child my favorite song was "Barbie Girl" by Aqua. My elementary BFF kayla and I used to sing this song all the time. It wasn't until a teacher pulled us aside and explained to us what the song's meaning was. She tried to explain in a way a fourth grader would understand. When I hear that song now I think of Kayla and the teacher that told us not to sing it.

"Rhyme Zone Poem"

High School

A buzzing goes off beside my bed
I know it's trying to rouse me awake.
I shut the thing up and put a pillow on my head
Thinking about the geometry test I have to take.

I slowly get dressed while still half asleep
And get ready to go the cafe.
I throw my supplies into a heap
And I'm off to school for the day.

The bell has rung, school has started
I make my way to my class.
Some people will joke and say "Who farted?"
I surely hope they will pass.

Concentration is hard and easily broken
Work is hard to get done.
I blame the one kid next to me who has spoken
and state "Class is not meant to be fun!"

As the bell rings for school to end
I tiredly gather my belongings with sorrow.
I hang out the rest of the day with a friend
And high school begins again tomorrow.

The rhyme scheme of this poem is ABABCDCDEFEFGHGHIJIJ.

Podcast Poem Preview

Evening In A Sugar Orchard

From where I lingered in a lull in march
outside the sugar-house one night for choice,
I called the fireman with a careful voice
And bade him leave the pan and stoke the arch:
'O fireman, give the fire another stoke,
And send more sparks up chimney with the smoke.'
I thought a few might tangle, as they did,
Among bare maple boughs, and in the rare
Hill atmosphere not cease to glow,
And so be added to the moon up there.
The moon, though slight, was moon enough to show
On every tree a bucket with a lid,
And on black ground a bear-skin rug of snow.
The sparks made no attempt to be the moon.
They were content to figure in the trees
As Leo, Orion, and the Pleiades.
And that was what the boughs were full of soon.

Do you prefer the sunshine or the rain? Explain.

I prefer having both sunshine and rain. Sometimes It is good to soak up a little sun while on other days I prefer to stay inside and watch movies. Rainy days are very calming and realxing while sunny days I feel energized and excited. So I prefer both sun and rain.

Cliche Poem

It was raining cats and dogs on a Thursday winter morning.
The day tryouts came I rushed out of my house like a rushing racehorse
With horseshoes tighter than two coats of paint.
I stumbled across the Field...
The players were already settled into their places...
The first drill had already begun.
I eased my way through the drill...
Passing with flying colors.
No time to catch my breath...
The coach had already blew his whistle...
Time for a second round of laps.
Some participants were already lying down like beached whales.
The coach blows his whistle early...
He rounds us up and tells us words of advice...
"Through the sands of time I let sports slip through my fingers...
Until I learned to take what I cosumed both mentally and physically
to teach adoloescents how to work as a team."
He started to call names one by one...
Caroline, Marsha, April...
Confusion was obvious through my facial expressions...
I had made the team.
Hearing my name was like music to my ears.
I had learned two things that morning...
try your best no matter what and never let
anyone steal your thunder.
I had earned two victories that day.

Figurative Language Games

The best figurative language game I played tonight is Fling The Teacher because I got the chance to test my knowledge while flinging Mr. Walker into the air. In order to play this game I had to create a teacher and answer a series of fifteen questions correctly in order to be able to fling Mr. Walker. There wasn't any scored total. The player just had to answer all fifteen questions correctly. If you want to play this game, go to this link http://www.newton.k12.ks.us/tech/fling3.html.

Another enjoyable figurative language game is metaphor battleship because I haven't played battleship in a while so it was nice to play a different version of the original game. In order to play this game, I had to click on a square that contained a part of a ship. If I located the right square a question would pop up. If I answered a question correctly I would be able to sink a ship. I had won the first round of battleship. If you are interested in playing this game, go to the following link http://www.quia.com/ba/42131.html?AP_rand=163810965

My least favorite figurative language game is Drag and Drop Metaphors because it wasn't much of a challenge and I completed it in less than twenty seconds. In order to play this game, I had to place a word next to the correct metaphor. My final score was a hundred percent. If you want to try out this non-challenging game go to the following link ...http://www.kidsonthenet.org.uk/dragonsville/metaphor1.htm

My Winter Vacation

My winter vacation went well. The first week of my vacation was spent doing pointless recreational activites. I was scheduled to have an overnight pass with my mother. All was well until the day came. The predicament that happened was not what was planned. The supervisors came to pick me up early from pass. When I came to where I resided I went straight to my bedroom and went to sleep. The following day was spent at my boyfriend's house and other places. The following week was spent at Walmart or Target. The Friends of San Pasqual and the County Social workers had donated $200.00 to us. I had bought the presents I hadn't received. My christmas break had started off bad and ultimately ended with happiness.
